The Montgomery Wards catalog was founded in 1872, by Aaron Montgomery Ward. It remained just a catalog company until 1926 when the first retail store was opened in Plymouth, Indiana. Through the years Montgomery Wards sold items for the home, from sewing thread to Outboard Motors.Their Outboard Motors were sold under the "Sea King" brand name from the early 1930's. Through the years various manufactures produce the Sea King motor for Montgomery Wards. Thor, Lockwood, Mercury, Evinrude, Gale, West Bend, Chrysler, Eska and Clinton to name a few. In the year 2000, Montgomery Wards filed for bankruptcy and closed it's doors after 128 years in business.
Hard core parts for these outboards are getting more difficult to find as time goes on. Many older outboards used common Ignition and Carburetor venders for that period.
